Dinner on Devon Ave

This week we said farewell to Devon Avenue, the bustling center of Chicago’s Indian-Pakistani community. I have many fond memories in this neighborhood, which inspired me to study abroad in India in college. We had a veggie meal at Annapurna, served in cafeteria-style thali trays. Nico devoured a plate of idli sambar ($3.00!) and made a big mess of a mango kulfi ice pop. It was a sweet and savory goodbye to a neighborhood that we’ve been lucky to live near to for so long.
